Vishal Bhardwaj is a director and an Indian producer, a writer, a scriptwriter, a music composer and a singer, native of Uttar Pradesh. He obtained 4 National Film Awards. He began his career as a music composer.

He is known for his collaboration with the director Gulzar whose he was the official composer on television series such Alice in Wonderland and The Jungle Book. He obtained very numerous prices for his musical compositions.
He says to have begun to shoot movies only to have the opportunity of creating original compositions.
His first movie Makdee was screened within the framework of the Focus on India at the Cannes Film Festival 2003.

His first Shakespeare's adaptation was Maqbool ( 2003 ), based on Macbeth, soon followed by Omkara (2006) adapted from Othello. Haider (2014), adapted from Hamlet, is the last shutter of his trilogy which was won him a huge recognition by the public and with the critic.
He also shot several films for children. He is the creator of VB Pictures.
